Through the Context Glass

by on Sep.11, 2012, under Short Films

Created for the 22nd DV Challenge at dvinfo.net. The film tries to look on how the same object seen in different environments is interpreted differently and how the viewer builds context and story around it.

The context is like the glasses in front of our eyes in this aspect – we see everything and put everything in a context, which may or may not be what is really happening, with due respect to the notion that context itself is a part of a subjective reality. A bit abstract, I guess…

What I appreciated best in making this piece is the experience in creating more complex (at least for me) sound environments or soundscapes. I didn’t have any actors in this project, so I focused more on the sound as a crucial part in telling a story.

Edited mostly on the train during my daily commute. :)

Deconstructing Rapture

by on Jun.05, 2011, under Short Films

Deconstructing Rapture is inspired by the Gospel of Thomas:113 – the kingdom of God is all around us, but people don’t see it, including those preparing for rapture now and then when some pastor announces it. Please find a more detailed explanation here.

Made for the 20th DVChallenge at www.dvinfo.net. A surreal take on the challenge theme “instructional video”.

Movements Between Moments

by on Oct.20, 2010, under Short Films

Open your mind’s eye to other realities and experiences. In between moments of time these are the eternal movements of being happening at every point of existence.
Even now atoms all around and in you are vibrating with phenomenal speed, your cells are decaying, the Sun is nearing its end, but usually we do not notice these natural dynamics of our universe, because we are so preoccupied with our own self created illusory time and space of everyday.
Inspired by and dedicated to the Christian mystic of the 17th century Angelus Silesius we offer you to see this film and some of the movements between moments.

Shot in 2 evenings and edited in 24h. Created for the DVinfo.net 2nd annual Charity Challange with the contest theme – gifts.

Type: short film (colour:  b&w, kodachrome)

Commentary:

The film deals with various personae and energy centres that occupy the human mind and shows them in relationship with each other.
The woman in black is the energy centre of the human psyche that corresponds with the wish of self betterment and annihilation of unsatisfactory personality traits.  But, alas, as Nietzsche said: “Be careful in casting out your devil ‘lest you cast out the best thing about you”, and so we have to continue this jihad or be left with an undeveloped or a degraded personality.
