During or after dialogue always shoot also the other person, to put in the final edit the other person’s emotional response to the first.

Right now editing some alpha scenes for After the bombs fell the walls (new film) and trying not to kick myself in the head (too violently). Framing, framing, framing… We were shooting in high wind and in some scenes the deadcat flies in the frame, didn’t notice that… Also in some other scenes some equipment lying around (but it can be repaired by graphic trickery, somewhat). The reason is, of course, my criminal lack of attention to small details, because we were in a hurry and freezing cold, but another big reason is that the XHA1 lcd screen is too darned small. At just 2,5″ I can barely make the actors out, much less smaller details… It’s a wonderful camera, I love it, but I need to lug the monitor with me for framing critical scenes (takes a lot of power/runs only 2,5h or smthing).
